Midwest Medical Transport Co. introduced its North Platte Station in April of 2004 with a single Advanced Life Support Ambulance.  In just a few short years, Midwest has stepped up its service to include two fully staffed Advanced Life Support Ambulances with an additional Advanced Ambulance in reserve.  Medical personnel comprised of Paramedics, Registered Nurses and Critical Care technicians are available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

In order to meet the special needs of routinely long transport times Midwest has written and adopted protocols providing for the highest level of patient care and comfort.  These protocols allow the use of specialized medical equipment including an Impact Transport Ventilator, Bi-PAP capabilities, fetal monitoring and three way infusion pumps, as well as the use of advanced medications recommended by the American Heart Association such as Cardizem and Amiodarone. 

Midwest has partnered with the area hospitals to ensure special needs are met including adding specific respiratory protocols.  In conjunction with the utilization of ventilators, assisting with apneic patients, Rapid Sequence Induction is utilized for the definitive care of patient airways.

As medical transport need has grown in the area and relationships with area hospitals are formed, Midwest Medical Transport Co. has been proactive in revising and improving routes and response times to major medical centers making ground transport as fast, or faster than fixed wing aircraft, providing patients in the area the best care available at a lower cost.
